Ken Gibson B.Sc. A.R.A.M.

Gained a mathematics degree from Imperial College, London University.
Taught mathematics for 5 years

Attended the Royal Academy of Music, graduated with diplomas in composition, orchestration and bass playing

Worked with the well known jazz musician, band-leader and composer John Dankworth orchestrating several films, T.V. series and concerts, the latter involving the internationally acclaimed vocalist Cleo Laine. Orchestration & arranging work for various companies including the BBC, ITV.

Started work for record companies which led on to writing and production in the field of commercial ‘pop’ music. Several ‘hit’ records followed some of which ‘charted’ world-wide.

One of these alone sold 3 million copies and two others close to the million mark. These involved the award of 10 Gold and Silver records and number one chart placings in seven territories. Meanwhile continued orchestration work up to full Symphony Orchestra level.

Other activities included running a recording studio, getting involved in music publishing, teaching modern musical styles and techniques, organising and teaching on various sound recording courses and working on arrangement, production, writing and sound engineering with various artists. These have included Sandy Shaw, Rod Stewart (including the arrangement on "Handbags and Gladrags" which has been faithfully copied and recently charted), Scott Walker, Adam Faith, Mungo Jerry, Kelly Marie, Jose Feliciano, Benny Goodman and, more recently, Lulu, Anita Ward, Gloria Gaynor and, of course, Cleo Laine and John Dankworth.

Worked with various actors in a musico-dramatic area including Alec McCowan, Bernard Hepton and Richard E Grant.

Composed music for TV including the recent "Gaudi’s Barcelona".

A member of PRS and MCPS for 30 years and, as a publisher, for 20 years.
